Modern Vintage is the collaboration of two women both raised on the salt air of Cape Cod. It began when they were just girls - the urge to create, to design, to build. Whether it be a sewing project with their mom or a sandcastle on a Cape Cod beach, this creative desire instilled in them a deep passion for the unique, designed from their hearts or restored from their soul.

Both attended Simmons College in Boston, both ventured off independently to see different parts of the world and to discover their love of old furniture, art, architecture, textiles, and fabric design.

In 2010, they realized their mutual interest and passion for design could be expanded upon. They began working together with Kristen's furniture and Cara's fabric, selling items at craft fairs and through an online blog. Kristen's love is restoring or repurposing furniture - taking something ordinary and turning into something beautiful. Cara's focus is on designing fabrics and home decor products such as pillows and window treatments.
